2. How to guarantee SGBV’s sandalwood tree will produce oil? v
A, The world's most credible and largest sandalwood certification authority is “International Sandalwood Foundation”, which holds the most complete and largest sandalwood data repository.
“International Sandalwood Foundation” pointed up, Santalum Album is the best varieties of tree species in the sandalwood trees, it growing faster and high oil content, better quality. With further improvement by “South China Botanical Garden”, this plant producing oil in the fifth year.

5. What is the difference between Indian and Australian Sandalwood? v
A, Of the 15 different species of sandalwood that grow throughout the world, there are 2 main varieties that are traded internationally. These are “Santalum Spicatum” (Australian sandalwood) and “Santalum Album” (Indian sandalwood).
Australian sandalwood currently supplies well over half of all sandalwood traded around the globe annually. Australian sandalwood has historically been used in the agabati (agarbatti) and incense markets in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong and most other Asian countries. It has been widely accepted in these areas for over 150 years.
In recent years Australian sandalwood oil has been incorporated into many high end perfumes and other cosmetic products.
Australian sandalwood does produce a lower oil content than Indian sandalwood although it consistently produces the oil forming heartwood from a very young age. Australian Plantation Sandalwood has been tried and tested in small plantations throughout WA for over 25 years by both private and Government organizations.

10. What is the main concern of seedling of sandalwood tree? v
A, For development of seedling in a well developed good sandal plantation tree which is harvested at early stages and produced good quality Sandalwood is selected. This “mother tree” should has following characteristics.
- Thee should be of pure origin
- Fast growing and larger volume of heart wood
- Small size and tree should come to harvest within 10 to 12 years
- High volume of sandal oil formation in shorter duration
- The sandal oil is the good quality and high quality
For this “mother tree“ sucker will develop (regeneration) and it will again become tree in 4 to 5 years. From such tree seeds can be collected to produce seedling. Production of seedling through Genetically tracing method is the best.
